Abalone

The supermarkets are full of tinned Abalone for Chinese New Year. The displays have a security guard watching as the tines are very expensive. Fresh Abalone is hard to come buy and in short supply due to the earthquake in Japan last year.
One supermarket was having taste tests and I managed to get a a decent size bite.
Each tin has about eight Abalone in it and they are used in a dish called Pen cai which is a clay pot dish that contains many ingredients which are  selected for their auspicious homonyms in Chinese.
