Pongal Festival in Singapore

Pongal is a Hindu celebration of the harvest festival in India. The streets in Little India are decorated with lights for the month of January and the festival lasts for four days in the middle of January. Pongal festival marks the sun’s journey northwards.
During the festival of a traditional sweet delicacy called Pongal- which is sweet sticky rice made from milk, rice and sugar that are boiled together in a new pot that is presented to the Gods in return for their blessings. A festival market is set up in one of the lanes in Little India selling items for the festival.
